Download Instructions
When you press the download or add to cart buttons,
you will see a page that displays your shopping cart. This page comes from the PayPal system,
and lists the item or items that you have selected. At the bottom of the page, there is a Continue Shopping button
as well as a Proceed to Checkout button. When you proceed with the checkout, you will see a page that will let you
log into PayPal if you already have an account. If you dont have a PayPal account, or if you prefer to pay with a credit card,
you can click on the continue button at the bottom of the page where it says Dont have a PayPal Account?.
From there, you can enter your credit card information as instructed. When you complete payment,
you will see a page that says Thank you for your payment. This page will inform you that:
"You have sent a secure payment of $xx.xx USD to Visual Math Learning. This payment will appear on your card statement as "PAYPAL *VISUALMATHL. You will receive an email receipt for this shortly.
From there, you can either wait for the email, or click on the link at the bottom that says: Continue to Download.
You will then see the page that says "Thank you for your purchase. Please follow the instructions below to download your file."
You will also see some very important instructions as follows:
PC Users: You must Right-Click the link below and choose "Save Link As..." or "Save Target As..." to save the file to
a location on your computer.
Mac Users: Simply click the link below to save the file to your computer. If you have problems, try Option + Click and the
"Save to Disk" command to save the file to your computer.
For PC Users, it is easy to miss noticing this instruction and forget to right-click the link. If you do not right-click,
the downloader will only open the file without copying it to your computer. Be sure to right-click the link in order to
save the file to your disk. When you do, you will get a drop-down menu that contains an option to Save Target As.
This will let you navigate to a folder on your disk where you wish to copy the file. As soon as the download completes,
you are ready to run the exercise.
The exercise file that you download is a program that is in the Shockwave/Flash format and has the file extension .swf.
Nearly all browsers, including Internet Explorer, have a built-in component that can play these kinds of files.
You will normally be able to start the .swf file simply by double-clicking on the filename or a shortcut to it.
Unfortunately, on some computers, the system does not immediately recognize the .swf extension,
and does not know which application to use to run the extension. If this happens on your computer,
when you click on the file to start it, the system will display a message that asks you to pick a program to use to open the file.
In Windows, the message will look like Windows cannot open this file To open this file, Windows needs to know what program
created it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs on your
computer. Select the button that says Select the program from a list and hit OK. The system will then display an
Open With window that will let you choose from a list of programs that are on your computer, including Internet Explorer.
You can choose Internet Explorer, or a Flash player if your computer already has one installed. This will start the program,
and your computer should remember this choice so that the next time you click on the file to start the program,
it will start automatically.
