Let us now consider pairs of equations of the forms: y = x, and x = y + c, where c is a constant you can choose with the counter. Here, you can see right away that if c equals 0, the two graphs coincide, making the two relations identical, as with x = y. If c has any value other than 0, the two lines are parallel, and have no points in common. In this situation, there are no values for x or y that can satisfy both equations. The equations thereby have no solution.
